What to expect

The Uffizi Gallery is a museum featuring hundreds of extraordinary artworks, where inexperienced visitors can easily get lost. This tour will guide you into the halls of the gallery to understand the unrivalled moment of artistic creativity which took hold in Florence between the end of the Middle Ages and the 16th century. For this tour, we have selected works by great maestros which changed art history forever, such as the “Birth of Venus” by Botticelli, the “Doni Tondoby Michelangelo or “the Annunciation” by Leonardo.

The building hosting the museum is no less spectacular: the construction of the Uffizi was commissioned to Giorgio Vasari by the Medici, as administration offices for the city and Grand-Duchy. The architect certainly knew how to please the Dukes and created the Gallery with its characteristic “U” shape, allowing the visitors to admire unforgettable views of the Arno, Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria on each side.

Later, these immense spaces were also dedicated to exhibiting the Medici collection, featuring a variety of works from ancient sculptures to precious armours: a true treasure trove!

The museum is now mostly a picture gallery, the most important museum in the city and one of the most visited in Italy and the world.
